Native word press allows you to create photo Galleries. But beyond just being able to label captions and resize images to some degree. That is basically the extent of that Gallery Function. I have never been able to link the image to a Page, Post, etc. The fields needed don’t seem to exist with just native. I am sure this will improve in time.
So it stands to reason some of my older into may be static.
I want something simple.
There are numerous “Plug In’s” to provide a work around to be more creative with Galleries. Some themes even have more capabilities.
Many plug-in’s are so convoluted with their own menu’s and quirks, they simply consume my time.
I tried many. Then delete them. I don’t understand why app developers create programs that are not simple and intuitive? If I have to take a course of instructions to use such an app. If I have to start reading instructions, searching for help, or they don’t have a common workflow that works very similar to the native program, or other common operating systems such as MS Windows. I find them useless.
I am not in and working on Word Press everyday. I want something I don’t need a training refresher, every time I haven’t used a “plug in” for a few weeks, or a few months.
Which all leads me to the “Plug in” I am currently using. It may not provide all the bells and whistles some Gallery plug-in’s might provide.
The one I use is simple. Easy to comprehend without referring to any literature or training. I allows me to set up Gallery Photo’s all similar to Native WP. But it also adds in the necessary “data fields” to add URL info to link photos to Pages, Posts, and other addresses.
HTML is allowable in some of the fields. So it is easy to Bold, Center, Break to another line, etc if you know any basic HTML.
In my case. I use Gallery thumbnails as a visual menu. To link those thumbnail photos via a mouse click. Linking to Pages or Post with full sized images, texts, etc.
