In this Poem. God is the Windmill builder.
The windmill represents a person. Through the stages of the cycle of life. The poem is from birth to death. Some parts in between on that journey.
From the beginning at birth. Destiny is not known. It can be whatever each one of us makes it to be.
The world “Tower” represents a person that grows out of the innocence of childhood, to become larger, stronger, and an adult.
The “Tower” now old, and falling apart. Reflecting back on snippets of life, that is coming to a close. Both good times and bad.
Wondering what life after death will bring?
The verse “The tower to the North came down long ago”, “I’ve had to watch many more like me go”. Refers to out living perhaps friends, or family members.
“Watching some taken down with a storm” refers to grief and loss when those close to you, die before their time from unnatural causes.
Watching them go. Knowing, that the same ending will come for us all.
The verses toward the end with the truck, the dust, and “they” are coming. Is death that will eventually come to all of us. Angels and Jesus coming to meet you.
“The worn out metal is inspected for defects with care” Is the reckoning and accounting for sins of your life.
The “manual” reference means two things at the end of life. The scriptures or bible. When words are read over you during your funeral.
The “manual” also references the “Book of your life” The book that will be opened on Judgement day for each and everyone of us.
The last verse “I look down at my parts, to the ground, where they lay” References your spirit leaving its earthly body, after death.
