Industrial Cart to Bar Cart

November 8, 2016

We picked up this heavy duty 24 x 36 inch industrial work cart. Our vision is to weld on some risers. Construct a raised steel tube frame. Then top that raised platform with a thick piece of tempered glass to create an outdoor/patio rolling bar cart.

Once all the steel fabrication is complete all the metal will be prepped and given a coat of Coca Cola red paint. We already have a fitted plywood top that is red and stenciled with the white Coca Cola lettering. It also has a piece of glass as a protective counter surface.

The cart was picked up at an estate sale. We invested $8.00 in a 20 ft piece of 16 gauge square steel tubing 3/4 x 3/4 inch.

The tempered glass was a big expense, and way more than the basic cart. The tempered glass is 12 X 44 inches and 1/2 inch thick. We went thicker than needed to get the green coke glass effect when looking at the edge of the glass. An added expense but something we thought was worth the extra cost. This glass since tempered, also takes about 2 weeks to have made and shipped. The glass, tempering, and polished edge, cost us $120.00.

Follow along as we progress with the project.
