GARAGE SALE CAT
A touch of Humor

July 7, 2019

[Disclaimer: The cat in the photo is not the cat in the story]

So the morning of this day I was up at 4am.  Marilyn woke up at 5am.  We were out of the house for an early breakfast.  At one of our favorite breakfast eateries.

We enjoyed the early morning together.  But it was a garage sale day!

As soon as we came home.  Marilyn was off on her way to shop some of the sales.   I stayed home to putter around the house doing something.   Marilyn always seems to come home with a new “find”, a new story, or some experience.  This day would be no different.  Though the story certainly was.

You must know that Marilyn also has a soft spot in her heart for stray animals.  Evidence to prove it, by the two homeless cats we currently have.  One of which has made it permanently into the house.  I fear the 2nd will find its way there too.

So where is this garage sale buyer, and cat lover story going?  You might ask?

As Marilyn hits the first garage sale, in a string of sales, she plans to visit.  She was full of excitement.   Like a fisherman that can’t get his line in the water fast enough.

She drives up to the curb and scurries up the drive hoping to score on something before others can beat her to it.  In the process she leaves her car door wide open.

I pause here to explain this course of action is nothing new.  I can visualize this perfectly as she relays this story to me.  I have been with her on many occasions, and often “remind” her to close her door.  Concerned someone would hit the open door with another vehicle.  Never imagining other possibilities.

But garage sale buying is serious business.  Not for the faint of heart, or those slow to the draw.

As she walks back to her car after her brief stop….to her car with the open door.  She notices a cat  sitting on her drivers seat.  A seat covered with soft sheep fleece seat covers…. out jumps the cat.  I am sure Marilyn was affectionately talking to the cat as she approached.  Her thinking the cat was enjoying the warm sunshine, on her nice cozy seat covers.   Hoping for a friendly greeting.

But alas.  The cat runs away.  Many are so aloof.  Especially to strangers.

Marilyn sits down to drive away, to the next sale.  She immediately feels her jeans get wet on her backside.

Yep……that cat had pee’d on her car seat, big time!

It seems any pleasurable pastime, comes with it’s own set of hazards!
